Silver Bow Montessori School was established in 1988 as a preschool in the building currently operated as Fred’s Mesquite Grill in Butte, Montana. The school was located in turn at three locations throughout Butte.
In 2001, the school moved to its current location at 1800
Sunset in Butte, where the early childhood classroom
currently operates in a 2,130 square foot facility on over five
acres of landscaped grounds. The infant and toddler
classroom is 940 square feet. Our multipurpose room has a
space of 670 square feet, for a total of 3,740 square feet of
classroom space.
The school received 501(c)3 non-profit organization status on August 29, 2002.
The current iteration of Silver Bow Montessori was made possible by our former director, Don Kronenberger. Along with his wife Brett and their family, and the commitment of our school's families, they built not only a school, but a community. This school was founded on the principles of Maria Montessori - educating the whole child, but also on the foundation Don created to see each child as an individual, and help them find their own success. Because of their dedication, perseverance, and drive, we have a school we are proud of; a place to educate our children to be not just good students, but good citizens. Thank you Don and Brett, and all of our alumni families for creating this magical place.
